Exceptional outcomes achieved towards Health Equity

8 July 2025|

Several new services and programs have been introduced across Metro North Health and are already achieving exceptional outcomes towards Health Equity. These include the Deadly Feet program expansion, post-op rehabilitation services including heart and lung rehabilitation service, women’s business shared pathways, HOPE and UROC programs and the persistent pain clinic.

This week, Scott from RBWH Food Services and Indigenous Health Liaison Officer (IHLO) Bernadette have been bringing traditional flavours to those spending NAIDOC Week in hospital. 💝

Metro North's IHLOs help bridge the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and healthcare services to help them navigate the hospital system and treatment.

As part of the hospital’s NAIDOC Week celebrations, Scott baked wattleseed biscuits before joining Bernadette and others to deliver them to patients, including Claudine from Toomelah, near Goondiwindi.

Wattleseed is a traditional Aboriginal ingredient that has been used as a source of protein, fibre and carbohydrates for thousands of years.

Claudine and other patients appreciated the thought behind combining the traditional food into a mid-morning treat to celebrate NAIDOC Week.
